The Ubangi Name was Given to This Sweet Little Lure in Reference to a Congolese Tribe From Africa. The "Ubangi Tribe" Were Sensationalized in the 1930s United States After a Group Were Made Famous by the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus for Their Indigenous Practice of Lip Plating/Stretching. The "Ubangi Savages" Sideshow Popularized the People & Their Practice but Lost Its Buzz by the 1940s. Apparently It Made an Indelible Impression for One Circus Goer In Those Years, for the 1st UBANGI Lure Was Produced in the Late 1950s & the Longer Bottom Lip was Named in Recognition of the Ubangi Practice.
