Kari Now Has a PhD in Ubangi Lures Just From Trying to Figure Out the History on These Awesome Little Baits! See Below for a Dizzying Amount of Info Connected to Ubangi Background!

1st Ubangi Manufacturer: The Allen Tackle Company

2nd Ubangi Manufacturer: (Gene Cooper) Cooper Loor From Chicago, Illinois

Subsequent Ubangi Manufacturers: Tru Katch from Texas (They Called It a Pop N Pull); Ronnie Zint's Big "Z's" Better Baits, & Katchmore from Wisconsin

The Ubangi Name was Given to This Sweet Little Lure in Reference to a Congolese Tribe From Africa. The "Ubangi Tribe" Were Sensationalized in the 1930s United States After a Group Were Made Famous by the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus for Their Indigenous Practice of Lip Plating/Stretching. The "Ubangi Savages" Sideshow Popularized the People & Their Practice but Lost Its Buzz by the 1940s. Apparently It Made an Indelible Impression for One Circus Goer In Those Years, for the 1st UBANGI Lure Was Produced in the Late 1950s & the Longer Bottom Lip was Named in Recognition of the Ubangi Practice.
